JACKSON, Mississippi, April 1, 2010 -- The I Can Voices of Hope (I Can VOH) presented the "Sounds of South Africa" at Jackson State University in the F. D. Hall Music Center Recital Hall on yesterday, March 31, 2010 - 12noon. The program featured traditional South African music as well as some American classics. The event was further highlighted by the powerful motivational speaking of Dr. David Molapo, Founder and Chairman of I Can Foundation South Africa (www.icanfound.org). Students, Faculty and visitors were encouraged by the music and spoken word. Additionally, the group presented two workshops in the Department of Music during the Music for Children Class (Dr. Emma Brooks-Smith) and the Opera Workshop Class (Mrs. Phyllis Lewis-Hale). The group may its debut in the USA last week in Chester, PA and has received impressive reviews since that time. Other presentations are scheduled during the Easter weekend and next week before the group returns to South Africa. The group is under the direction of Mr. S'busisio Excellent ka Bhengu a native of Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN).
